Product Information

Cone 9 temperatures are based on a kiln firing at 15°C, 60°C and 150°C degrees per hour when climbing at the last 100 degrees to the top (target) temperature.

• 15°C - 1224°C
• 60°C - 1260°C
• 150°C - 1280°C

Orton Cones are a ceramic aid that when heated in a kiln, will bend. It will give a value of 'heat work' which is a calculation of both temperature and time.

These can be used in oxidisation (electric kilns) and in reduction with other fuelled kilns*.

See further advice in our knowledge base on 'Orton cones'.

*except between values of '010' to '3' as they contain iron oxide. Use iron free ones for firings between this range.

It stuck to my kiln shelf

Even after calling to check whether the cone would stick, I was told no it was made to stand alone etc. It stuck and took a huge chunk out of my shelf when I tried to remove it, I won't trust them again to be self supporting and will place them on a dish or similar
