Product Information

The ROHDE Gas kilns are well equipped to undertake all kinds of firings. Being a gas kiln, whether natural or propane fuelled, reduction firing* is possible giving you versatility to your glazing.

Gas-fired, Rohde front loaders combine a high level of technology with a robust construction, designed for a long life. Sizes available are, from 250 litres to 1000 litres with lots of extra equipment, such as, burner, hose, connections, thermocouple type K, pyrometer, kiln furniture. Optional equipment can be oxygen probe, CO monitor, servo jet (natural gas only) stainless steel hood, castors and splitter (flame diverter).

Rohde have coined a technological phase, ‘downdraft flame control’. It’s not technically a ‘downdraft kiln’ but rather each of the 20kW burners are situated underneath pulling the air in, from beneath, but the exhaust will still go out from the top. The burners are very quiet and do ensure even temperatures and low levels of consumption. If your intentions are to use natural gas, then you must ensure you have enough pressure by seeking the advice of a qualified gas engineer. In most domestic situations it would be unlikely however in institutional building it may be possible. If so, the kiln should be purchased with the additional equipment called a ‘Servo Jet’ and you would need a compressor.

*Reduction firing is the ability to lower the oxygen levels in the kiln to obtain special glaze affects.

Kiln comes with 3 years warranty*.

*does not include shelf damage or improper use.

Special Features of the KG series:

  • Ventilated stainless steel in-frame construction to reduce corrosion.
  • Silicon carbide ceiling supports prevent damaged brickwork debris from falling on wares.
  • Flame splitter plate to protect the burner area.
  • Stable 20kW burners fixed to the underside of the base.
  • Many optional extras, perfect for customisation.

Technical Specifications

Burners:

  • 4 Rohde LPG pot burner each with 20kW output for firing to 1400°C. Fittings include manometer, quick-release hose to burner connection, flame igniter, flame fail air supply control. Other technical details, pressure range 0.1 to 1.5 bar, control ratio 1:15, suitable for propane.
  • 4 Rohde Servo jet pot natural gas burner each with 20kW output for firing to 1400°C. This burner is designed to be used with natural gas. The additional ‘servo jet’ will mix compressed air with gas to increase the power of the burner. Therefore, a quality compressor with a
long run time would need to be purchased to work alongside the servo jet/burner. Fittings include: manometer, quick-release hose to burner connection, flame igniter, flame fail, flame control using temperature sensor. Other technical details, pressure range low to 25 mbar, control ratio 1:10, suitable for Natural Gas*

*if you have a natural gas supply of less than 20mbar, it is unlikely that this burner option would be right for you.
