Sibelco Dune Throwing Clay

A new concept and exclusive to Hot Clay, a custom colour. The clay is the alternative to white and terracotta, the usual choices in earthenware.
It combines an enjoyable, creamy, smooth throwing experience with a perfect glaze fit.

Texture: Smooth

Unfired characteristics: A creamy, smooth texture that is very soft and forgiving to handle

Fired colour: Sand/cream

Shrinkage: 1080°C - 0.4% from dry to fired.

Grog: 0%, 0 mm grain size

Ideal for throwing.

Ideal bisque: 950°C (cone 06)

Glaze range: 1000°C to 1150°C (cone 06 - cone 3)

A clay made to a brief, the main ingredient is a highly reputed 'SG' from the sibelco clay range, so it won't disappoint. When throwing it is very creamy and has an almost porcelain feel.

The colour when fired will be a light sand and when fired higher will darken. This clay is an ideal accompaniment to the stoneware looking, earthenware glazes made by Botz, Spectrum and others. Leave an unpainted part to the bottom of the pot to give an impression of a stoneware.
