Working Notes

A clay to be adored by all throwers. Bisque fires to an unusual lilac grey then at higher temperatures turns to a taupe grey with a soft dark speckle, giving it a Scandinavian tone. It works well with semi-translucent glazes allowing the character to show through.

Health & Safety

As the clay contains crystalline silica avoid inhaling the dust from dried out clay. Wear a P3 mask, wash hands after use and clean up using a damp sponge. Dust off dirty clothes and aprons outside.

Smooth to throw

Sturdy enough to hold itself up but soft enough to be a very smooth throw. 10/10 throwing experience

Lovely to work with

This is my new favourite clay. I have thrown 50kgs of it now and glazed with a variety of glazes. It is a lovely clay to throw with though it doesn't like a lot of water. It does take slightly longer to dry than my white clay. It interacts very well with my glazes though it changes the colours somewhat (for the better in most cases). It can be lightly burnished to a beautiful smooth finish if leaving unglazed and the final unglazed colour of the clay is a lovely silver, grey. I am smitten!

Easy to throw with. I like how it turned out after bisque

I love this clay, it’s beautiful to throw and a gorgeous finish, even unglazed. I did find little white shards throughout the clay, I’d love to know what they are ?
