Vitraclay White Throwing Clay

Texture: Very Smooth

Unfired characteristics: A white body, buttery smooth and highly ‘plastic’ from the bag. This beautiful clay is unsurpassed on the wheel where fine detail and extremely thin walls can be achieved with ease.

Fired colour: Off white

Shrinkage: 14.5%

Absorption: <.5% at 1280°C therefore suitable for dinnerware.

Ideal for throwing and hand building.

Ideal Bisque: 999°C (cone 06)

Glaze Range: 1220°C to 1280°C (cone 6 to cone 9)

This is a premium quality white stoneware throwing body. A superbly smooth and silky clay which has an addition of a fine molochite to provide stiffness on the wheel and strength in the finished piece.

The white body fires to a brilliant white at bisque, maturing to a very strong and pleasing limestone colour at high temperatures.
