Calcined Alumina

Alumina will stabilize the glaze making it run less, but it also adds durability and strength to a glaze surface. It is often used as a matting agent and offers some opacity. Calcined alumina is simply a fired alumina hydrate, and as such it produces less gas when decomposing. But you can use it for the same purposes.
