Product Information

Cone 07 temperatures are based on a kiln firing at 15°C, 60°C and 150°C degrees per hour when climbing at the last 100 degrees to the top (target) temperature.

• 15°C - 962°C
• 60°C - 976°C
• 150°C - 987°C

Orton Cones are a ceramic aid that when heated in a kiln, will bend. It will give a value of 'heat work' which is a calculation of both temperature and time.

These can be used in oxidisation (electric kilns) and in reduction with other fuelled kilns*.

See further advice in our knowledge base on 'Orton cones'.

*except between values of '010' to '3' as they contain iron oxide. Use iron free ones for firings between this range.

Firing Cones

Great help getting my kiln temperatures right; I've had far better results since following up the evidence of the cones; turns out my kiln fires 50° hotter than the temperature display shows...makes quite a difference!
