Working Notes

It has a very long working time, and is much more plastic than some other white clays. It is a good alternative to porcelain for those that want to work with a white clay body but without the difficult working properties porcelain is known for.

Health & Safety

As the clay contains crystalline silica avoid inhaling the dust from dried out clay. Wear a P3 mask, wash hands after use and clean up using a damp sponge. Dust off dirty clothes and aprons outside.

Great Clay

Throwing pots on a wheel is so easy with the clay. It’s great to work with, a very fine finish. I definitely recommend the Clay; it's just a shame that the price is a bit high.

If I only had one!

Yep, if I could only have one clay this would be it. The smooth texture is rather like porcelain but it’s more robust. It really is lovely to use and bisque fired it’s nice and smooth meaning little or no sanding. A joy to use. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

One of my favorite clays

I love using this clay - throwing and centering it feels easy and it is beautifully smooth to work with.

I like that it has a low shrinkage rate, so my coffee mugs don't inadvertently end up being espresso mugs!

Although it is expensive, a little does go a long way, particularly if you recycle all your scraps and trimmings. I also find that I don't need to use a lot of water when throwing with this clay, so less of it ends up in my splash pan but I recycle that too!

It is white after being bisque fired but when glazed with a transparent glaze, it comes out a soft beige colour. This is my preferred clay to decorate with slips and underglazes.
