Working Notes

Very popular among throwers, the buff clay holds and shapes well. The colour at bisque is a light apricot with a subtle hint of a speckle. The markings darken at the higher firing range to become more distinctive. This clay is very forgiving for both professionals and entry level throwers.

The spots/speckles within this clay can stick to the shelves when fired at higher temperatures. Flat bottomed wares should be stilted to protect shelves.

Health & Safety

As the clay contains crystalline silica avoid inhaling the dust from dried out clay. Wear a P3 mask, wash hands after use and clean up using a damp sponge. Dust off dirty clothes and aprons outside.

The best!

This is my favourite clay. It's smooth and plastic, making it great to throw with, and it reclaims brilliantly too. The clay body fires to a lovely colour, and the speckles are distributed well and show through my glazes nicely.

My fave clay

This is a really lovely clay to throw and bisque fires to a really pretty pinky colour. Yet to glaze any pieces yet but it’s a dream to throw so I hope it takes my glazes well 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Love it

This clay is beautiful. It’s great to throw with (although turning can feel a bit gritty, I am sure that’s similar with other speckled clays). I have been using cone 5 glazes and have not found pieces sticking to shelves - except one time when the kiln got a bit too hot.
