Product Information

A deep green breaking to a blue froth.

This set consists of 2 x 250ml glaze, 1 of each in the following stoneware colours:

Oxide Green

Tin White Speckle

Firing Range

The photographed pot is on Vitraclay Studio Throwing Clay, fired to 1250°C.

Working Notes

Apply two generous layers of your first glaze Oxide Green and let this dry, this should take between 5 – 10 minutes and then apply two more layers of your second glaze Tin White Speckle. Clean the glaze from the bottom of your pieces, so you have at least a 10mm gap between the glaze and the base just in case the glaze runs. Make sure to clean the bottom of your piece thoroughly before putting it in the kiln.

Protect your kiln and shelves by testing with small samples before using the glaze on the final wares. We recommend the use of Batt Wash to protect shelves and with glaze layering such as this, we also recommend using handmade stoneware bisque dishes to catch any over fluxing glazes.

Health & Safety

Vitraglaze is lead free and non-toxic.

Good housekeeping is essential in any pottery studio to minimise inhalation of silica dust.

Always clean up with a damp sponge and if any dust is airborne, such as when mixing powder glazes, wear an FFP3/P3 mask and filter.

Beautiful glaze combo

Not being someone who pays a lot of attention to detail, I was surprised when my order arrived containing a tub of oxide green and another of tin white speckle. For some reason, I thought that Ocean Break was a new glaze (the clue was obviously in the “layers” part of the title
