If you intend on using powdered glazes or making slips or casting bodies, then a sieve is a vital part of your ceramic equipment. The process of sieving separates particles that will naturally want to bind together, it will refine and smooth a liquid. With raw materials in some glazes, it will help filter out anomalous sized grains.
The 255mm diameter sieve is sensibly sized to fit into most 10 Litre to 20 Litre buckets and with the help of thick rolling guides they can be used on any wide bucket.
We recommend the use of a sieve brush as that will not damage the surface of the mesh, although some prefer a soft kidney or spatula. Make sure you clean thoroughly after use making sure to clean under the edges of the sieve before moving onto another procedure.
Dimensions: 255mm x 70mm (dia x h)
Mesh sizes:
60 mesh
80 mesh
100 mesh
We suggest using 60 mesh for earthenware glaze powders, 80 mesh for stoneware glaze powders and 100 mesh for decorating slips, casting bodies and porcelain clay slurries.
